In the early 1900s, four orphaned siblings, the eldest being seventeen, set out to fulfill their uncle’s dream of homesteading in Tripp County, South Dakota, and although they face drought, discomfort, and sabotaging squatters, new friends and inner strength help them carry on.
New Land
Set in Wyoming in the early years of the Great Depression, New Land tells the story of a family that moves out to the West in order to farm and make a new life. Dad Morgan, takes his three children (seventeen year old twins Charley and Sayre and their little sister Hitty) to the claim Dad bought from Sam Parsons.
Trouble besets them immediately and they must, as a family, rise up and overcome every obstacle life throws in their way. Through hard work and strength of character, this family finds it ways through the weeds and comes out stronger and better for it.
